Obituary for Joseph E. Geiger
Joseph E. Geiger, 88, of N. Catasauqua, died Thursday, October 20th, 2011 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown. He was the husband of Evelyn (Matejicka) Geiger of N. Catasauqua and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage together. Born in Bethlehem, he was the adopted son of the late George and Mary (Copyan) Geiger. Joseph worked for many years for the former Fuller Co. before retiring in 1984. He was a long time member of St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in N. Catasauqua, where he served as an usher for five decades. He was WWII Army veteran serving in the Southwest Pacific with the 864th Aviation Engineers. Joseph was a Boy Scout master and committee man for St. Andrew’s Troop #18. He was a life member of V.F.W. of Northampton 4174 and American Legion Post 397 of Hellertown. He was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union, Branch 157K. He enjoyed meeting his coffee club friends at McDonald’s in Whitehall and following the Detroit Tigers baseball team. Surviving along with his loving wife are nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am Tuesday October 25th, 2011 at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, 1229 3rd Street, N. Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 8:30-9:30am at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to the church.
