Obituary for Joseph Horoschak
Joseph Horoschak, 87 years of Bethlehem, died Saturday May 11, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem. For 55 years he was the husband of Mary (Prima) Horoschak. Born in Atlas/Mt. Carmel, Pa. he was the son of the late Julian and Alexandra (Herbert) Horoschak. Joseph was a long time member of and very active in Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of Catasauqua where he was a Sunday school teacher and president of the church council. He graduated in the class of 1950 from St. Joseph’s University with a degree in accounting and worked as a licensed public accountant until he was 83 years old. The last 35 of those years he was a self employed licensed public accountant working from his home before retiring. Joseph was one of the founding members of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of PSPA (Pennsylvania Society of Public Accountants). He enjoyed gardening, baking and was an avid swimmer and served as a PIAA Swim Official. Joseph served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Hellertown American Legion. Surviving with his wife are daughters Nina wife of Christopher Bagshaw, Christina wife of Bill Reynolds, grandchildren Halle and Andrew Bagshaw, Steffi and Billy Reynolds. He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Tuesday May 14 in Holy Trinity Orthodox Church 1023 5th Street Catasauqua. His viewing will be 10:00am until 11:00am Tuesday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the church, or to St. Luke’s Hospice or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society care of the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032.
