Obituary for Joseph "Joe" A. Washburn

Joseph A. Washburn, 69 years, of Walnutport, died Sunday December 4th, 2016 at Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Jan (Leibensperger) Washburn of Walnutport and would have celebrated 49 years of marriage together this coming February. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late William and Grace (McMullen) Washburn.

Joe worked as a carpenter for a variety of contractors in the area. Prior to that he was employed for many years as a lineman for Mack Trucks. He was a sergeant in the Army serving in Vietnam. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing whenever he could. When his children were young he enjoyed coaching their little league softball and baseball teams.

Surviving along with his wife Jan are his son Kelly Washburn; brothers John and wife Renate, James and wife Vicky and Peter and wife Carol; granddaughters Katie and Jacqueline Lieberman and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Amy Lieberman and brothers William and Erwin.

Memorial services will be held at 11am Saturday, December 10th, 2016 at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. There will be a calling period from 10-11am Saturday at the funeral home.
