Obituary for Joseph M. Pavone
Joseph M. Pavone 74 years old of Macungie went to be with his Lord surrounded by his loving family Tuesday evening April 13, 2010 from the Phoebe Home of Allentown. He and his wife Carol A. (Griggs) Pavone would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary June 14, 2010. Born in Albany, N.Y. he was the son of the late Joseph A. Pavone Sr. and Ethel (Knepper) Pavone. Joseph retired in 1991 after 22 years as a principal from the East Penn School District and previously taught in the Allentown School District for 11 years. He graduated from Penn State class of 1958 with a degree in Elementary Education, earned his Master’s Degree from Temple University and received his Principal Certification from Lehigh University. He was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Allentown where he loved to sing with the Chancel Choir for over 40 years and he was a charter member of the Allentown Summer Harmony Chorus. Joe was an artist who loved creating paintings in his home and was a member of the Parkland Art League. He was an avid bicyclist riding many miles throughout the entire year Surviving with his wife are daughters Doreen wife of Paul Smith of Lancaster, Diane wife of Erich Groves of Lansdale, sister Donna wife of Raymond Lifite of Albany, N.Y., grandchildren Ryan Joseph Groves, Rebekah Jordan Smith and Jason Nathaniel Smith. He was preceded in death by his sister Lois Pavone. Memorial services will be 7:30 pm Sunday April 25, 2010 in Asbury United Methodist Church 1533 Springhouse Road Allentown, Pa. 18104. Call 6:30pm until 7:30pm Sunday in the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the church. The Brubaker Funeral Home of Catasauqua is in charge of arrangements.
