Joyce V. Fehnel, 86, of Whitehall, died Friday, December 6, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. She was the wife of Richard K. Fehnel and celebrated 64 years of marriage together this year. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Blanche (Kemmerer) Kurtz.
Joyce was a member of the former Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Schoenersville where she was a prominent member of the choir. Joyce had a beautiful voice and loved to sing and would often sing ‘O Holy Night’ at the church’s Christmas Eve Services. She was a 1956 Catasauqua High School graduate. Joyce worked for many years as a teller for Summit Bank, retiring from Bank of America. She also enjoyed her position as manager of Hickory Farms in the Lehigh Valley Mall, as well as her jobs with Harry & David and Christopher Banks. Joyce loved dancing, taking trips and playing cards.
Above all she loved spending time with her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by many.
Surviving along with her husband Richard are her sons Harold Fehnel and wife Wendy, Richard Fehnel, and Robert Fehnel, daughters Cheryl Hrusovsky and husband Bill, and Patricia Gerhard, grandchildren Kimmie, Rachel, Kristin, Peter, Arianne, Kayla, and Jacob, great grandchildren Jayson and Harley, brother George Kurtz and wife Linda, sister-in-law Beverly Fehnel, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Preston Kurtz.
A calling period will be held from 10-11am Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. Memorial services will be held at 11am, Saturday at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Schoenersville Cemetery.
