Obituary for Kathryn Eva Benjamin
Kathryn Eva (Thompson) Benjamin, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in the comfort of her home. Born in Sayre, Pennsylvania, she was the oldest daughter of Leland and Eleanor Thompson. She was the loving wife of Donald E. Benjamin, Sr. for nearly sixty years.
Kathryn grew up on her family’s dairy farm with her grandparents, parents, and three siblings, Edward, John, and Jody. She graduated from Wyalusing High School, received her bachelor’s degree from Mansfield University, and a master’s degree from Lehigh University. She valued her work as an elementary school teacher until she dedicated herself to staying home and raising her four children, Donald, Alan, Elizabeth, and Scott.

Kathryn remained active in her community. She served as the first director for the First Day Care Nursery in Catasauqua. She served as treasurer of the former Grace United Methodist Church for 21 years and participated in various activities within the church community. Kathryn enjoyed baking, making sure her family had their favorite treats, and there were many. She enjoyed spending time with her dear friends, attending concerts, lunches, and the Silver Sneakers program at the YMCA. Kathryn loved the time spent with her nine grandchildren. She enjoyed sports and was an avid Penn State and Eagles fan.

Kathryn is survived by her sister, Josephine (Thompson) Stroud, wife of Mern Stroud; husband, Donald E. Benjamin, Sr., son Donald E. Benjamin, Jr. and wife Chyrl of Charleston, SC; son Alan D. Benjamin and wife Anne Marie of South Lyon, MI; daughter Elizabeth and husband Daniel Forman of Sinking Spring, PA; son Scott C. Benjamin and wife Nicole of McDonald, PA; nine grandchildren, Stefanee, Trey, Jacob, Katherine, Daniel, McKayla, Luke, Reagan, and Ashley; two great grandchildren, Elliana and Dakota, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, Charles Edward Thompson and John Thompson.

Due to current restrictions, services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Towanda Area Christian Outreach, 1876 Golden Mile Road, P.O. Box 463, Wysox, PA. 18854.

Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua is entrusted with arrangements.
