Obituary for Kenneth W. Holmes, Jr.

Kenneth W. Holmes, Jr. 81, of North Catasauqua, passed away on January 5, 2024 after a short illness. Ken was born on March 9, 1942, to Kenneth W. Holmes, Sr. and Thelma (Gillespie) Holmes.


After graduating from Catasauqua High School, he enlisted in the US Navy from 1960-1966. He received an Honorable Discharge, went on to work at the Phoenix Forging Company in Catasauqua, retired from Phoenix, he worked part-time for Giant, in Whitehall.


On September 12, 1964, he married Carol (Finley). They had three children: Son Scott Holmes of North Catasauqua, Daughter Suzanne Dankel (Jason) of Bethlehem, and estranged daughter Shellie Fritchman. He was also the loving grandfather of two grandchildren: Anthony Brinkley (Jenarosa), and Breonna Brinkley all of Coplay. Also survived by his loving nephews, great nephews and great nieces. Ken was preceded in death by his son Mark Holmes and his brother Douglas Holmes.


He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He never missed an event any one of his children or grandchildren were in. He loved spending time with his family and was his grandson and granddaughter’s biggest fan. He was a Scoutmaster for Boys Scouts Troop 51 for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Whitehall, PA.


Services are private and will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3900 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall, PA. 18052.
