Obituary for Larrey P. Alder
Larrey P. Alder, 58 of Allentown, died Tuesday October 23, 2007 at Lehigh Valley Hospital on Cedar Crest Boulevard, in Allentown. He was the husband of Kathleen McCurley Alder of Allentown and they celebrated 36 years together in February of this year. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Ernest P. and Elizabeth (Dieter) Zack. Larrey was a patriot and loved his country. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Larrey served in the Marines during Vietnam for two tours of duty where he was awarded two purple hearts. He also was awarded the First Place Aggregate on June 16, 1967 at Camp Lejune, North Carolina. He was a member of the Order of the Purple Heart, the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of VFW Post 2124 in south Allentown. Larrey was also an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He worked for many years as a Union Operating Engineer for various businesses around the Lehigh Valley. Surviving with his wife are daughter Sheila and her husband Michael Curtis of Bethlehem; sisters B.J and her husband Bruce Kidd of Delaware, Diane Alder of Allentown; brother Alfred and his wife Jean of FL; grandsons Noah and Mcguire. Memorial services will be held 11am Saturday October 27th at the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 10-11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
