Obituary for Lester W. Davies
Lester “Les” W. Davies, 82, formerly of Catasauqua and Hamburg, died Thursday February 19th, 2009 in South Carolina. He was the husband of the late Emilia H. (Hudock) Davies. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late George Sr. and Erma (Kleckner) Davies. Les worked for many years for the U.S. Postal Service as a carrier in both Catasauqua and Whitehall before retiring. He was life member of the Catasauqua American Legion Post #215 as well as the VFW Post #1845 Simpsonville. He was a member of the Southwark Hose Co. of Catasauqua and the Alliance Fire Co. in Northampton. Les and his wife were members of the Zinc City Motor Club and were avid riders for many years traveling by motorcycle to many places including Florida. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Lester served in the Navy during WWII. Surviving are his daughter Leslie Robbins, with whom he resided, of Fountain Inn, S.C.; brother George Davies of Whitehall; sister Jean Roth of Trexlertown; grandchildren Ryan Davies and Wendy Shoop both of Northampton. He was preceded in death by his son Scott. Graveside services will be held 11am Friday February 27th, 2009 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1500 Airport Road, Allentown, 18109. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Catasauqua American Legion Post #215, 330 Second Street, Catasauqua, 18032. Arrangements by the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua.
