Obituary for Margaret E. Sperlbaum
Margaret E. Sperlbaum, 97 years, died in her Northampton residence surrounded by her loving daughters Ann and Marie on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Kasprick) Check. She was married for 65 years to her loving husband Edward F. Sperlbaum, Jr. prior to his passing in June of 2012.
Margaret was a self-employed seamstress for many years. She loved sewing, making clothing and doing alterations for friends and family. During WWII, she worked at a business in Whitehall making cords for parachutes. She was a long-time resident of Catasauqua and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Catasauqua. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her daughters Ann Rogers, husband Bruce Rogers, Marie Silfies, husband Willaim Silfies whom she resided with, daughter in law Gail Sperlbaum, 6 grandchildren, Kristin, Brittany, Kimberly, Justin, Sara, Laura and 5 great grandchildren, Ariyanna, Keanu, Connor, Claire and Grace. She was preceded in death by her son Edward “Butch” Sperlbaum III, brothers Mickey, Albert, Emil and sister Caroline.
Her viewing will be from 9:30 am - 10:30 am, Monday, July 1, 2024, in the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union Street, Catasauqua. Interment to follow funeral service at St. Lawrence Cemetery in North Catasauqua.
