Obituary for Margaret M. Howorth
Margaret M. Howorth, 95 years, died Saturday, August 23, 2014 in Luther Crest Health Center. Born in Ashley, Pa. she was the daughter of the late James and Daisy (Houck) McKillen. Margaret graduated from Ashley High School in 1936 and Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business in 1937 and was employed as a secretary/bookkeeper in Wilkes Barre until becoming a homemaker. She married the late George W. Howorth of Kingston, Pa. in 1946. They resided in Ashley until 1989 when they moved to Wilkes Barre. They were also summer residents of Penn Lake Park, Pa. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Ashley where she was active in church administration, church school and the Girl Scout program for many years prior to moving to Allentown where she joined Asbury United Methodist Church. Surviving are daughters June, wife of Robert D. Burket of Coatesville, Marjorie Craig of Albrightsville, sister Faith McKillen Doran of Lewes, DE., brother James Ross McKillen of Edmond, OK. Margaret has four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son George, daughter in law Susan, and son in law Jack L. Craig. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
