Obituaries
Margaret (Marge) Harakal, 99, a longtime resident of N Catasauqua, and most recently Northampton, died on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Fellowship Community, Whitehall. She was the wife of Joseph P. Harakal, who passed away in 1992. Margaret was the daughter of Stephen and Anna (Lukachovsky) Maczko. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Northampton.
Originally from Phillipsburg, NJ, she was a graduate of Phillipsburg HS, and after graduation, worked as a comptometer operator for the Dixie Cup Company in Easton, PA.
In addition to being a devoted “Mimi” to all her grandchildren, Margaret was a volunteer pyrohy maker at St. John the Baptist for many years, as well as a member of their former Ladies Guild and the Friendly Fifties.
Margaret’s survivors include sons David J Harakal and wife Denise, Joseph D Harakal and wife Elsa, and daughters Sharon Harakal Macko and Jann M Eline. Also grandchildren James Eline, Joel Eline, Dawn Farno, Megan Harakal, Gregory Macko, Kimberly Macasevich, and Jessica Harakal, as well as 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons-in-law Michael M Macko and James J Eline, brothers John, Joseph, and Michael Maczko and granddaughter Jenna Rose Eline.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 10th, 2023 at St. John The Baptist Church, 1343 Newport Ave. Northampton, PA 18067. There will be a calling period from 8:30 -10:00 a.m. at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032.
The family requests that all in attendance please wear a mask.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
