Obituary for Margareta Schanta
Margareta Schanta, 93, of Whitehall, died June 22, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. She was married to the late Emil Schanta. Born in Raabfidisch, Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Franz and Maria (Kroboth) Schanta. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Coplay. A member of the Amalgamated Garment Workers Union, she was employed as a sewing machine operator for the former Cross Country Clothes in Egypt and Northampton, retiring in 1983. Margareta was a member of the Coplay Saengerbund and its chorus. Survivors: son, Emil Schanta and his wife, Catherine; daughter, Margareta Schanta at home; daughter-in-law, Anna Maria Schanta of Whitehall, 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Franz and 13 brothers and sisters. Services: Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 27, 2014, St. Peter's Catholic Church.
