Obituary for Marie T. Seyfried
Marie T. Seyfried, 81 years, of N. Catasauqua passed away Thursday May 16, 2013. Marie was predeceased by her husband Donald (Deacon) A. Seyfried. They were blessed with 58 years of loving marriage June 12, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Michael S. and Mary (Stranzl) Bock. Her family was the center of Marie’s life and love. She was a loving daughter and sister, devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother. Surviving are sons Craig, husband of Pamela (Gogle) Seyfried of Spring City, PA., and Dr. Donald M., husband of Dr. Jeanne Seyfried of Plymouth, MI.; and daughter Donna Marie Seyfried, wife of Robert Thomas of Laytonsville, MD. Also surviving Marie are brothers William and Edward Bock. Marie has seven grandchildren; Craig F. Seyfried II and his wife Leandra, Lauren Seyfried, Don, Annie and Jenny Seyfried, and Deryn and Glenna Thomas, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Joseph Bock. Marie treasured spending time with her family and traveling with her husband to visit their children and grandchildren. She loved the mountains in all seasons, especially their family’s cabins in the Pocono and Adirondack mountains, where they spent many wonderful times together fishing, kayaking and simply enjoying nature. She had a long and rewarding nursing career with the Lehigh Valley Health Network spanning over 40 dedicated years of service as a compassionate nurse and nursing educator. Marie began as a Med Surg nurse at the Allentown General Hospital, and later served as a faculty member at the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing until its closing in 1987. Marie transitioned into Radiation Oncology Nursing and was actively involved with the Brain Cancer Support Group. She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing. She received her BS from Cedar Crest College and MS in Education from Temple University. Marie was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Church of the Annunciation B.V.M of Catasauqua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Wednesday May 22nd, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Annunciation B.V.M. Second and Union Streets Catasauqua. There will be a calling period from 9:30am until 10:00am Wednesday in the church. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Coplay PA. A viewing and calling period will be from 7:00pm until 8:30pm on Tuesday May 21st, 2013 at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name payable to the American Diabetes Association, or to the Alzheimer’s Association care of the funeral home.
