Obituaries
She graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1957 and East Stroudsburg State College in 1961, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Martha taught elementary students in the Emmaus School District and middle school and high school students in the Catasauqua Area School District for several years. In the Catasauqua area school district, she taught as a substitute teacher and high school remedial teacher. She enjoyed her teaching career very much. Martha also enjoyed working at Wetherhold’s Shoe Store in the Lehigh Valley Mall for many years, where she was recognized as an outstanding employee.
Martha was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and later a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. After her retirement from teaching in 2001, she greatly enjoyed gardening; reading; crafting and traveling. Her more recent years were spent mainly in her home loving and caring about her family and pets.
Surviving along with her husband are two daughters. Deborah L. Balga of Bethlehem, PA. and Leslie A. Bolmer of N. Catasauqua, PA.; three sisters-in-law; Nancy Fehr and her husband Hans of Hopatcong, N.J.; Judith Jones and her husband Robert of Washington, N.J. and Gloria Bolmer of Easton, PA.; a brother-in-law, Peter Koppenhoefer of East Stroudsburg, PA.; four grandsons; Kyle and Zachary Balga; Emmanuel and Alexander Andrews and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Anna L. Koppenhoefer, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Stecker and brothers-in-law; Fred Stecker and Walter Bolmer.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation period from 09:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, PA. 18032. A mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Fisher Catholic Church 1229 Third Street, N. Catasauqua, PA. 18032. Interment to follow at St. John Fisher cemetery, N. Catasauqua.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Fisher Catholic Church. Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua is entrusted with arrangements.
