Obituary for Marvin H. Wagner, Jr.
Marvin H. Wagner, Jr., 85 years, died peacefully surrounded by his family Monday November 20th, 2017 at his residence in Whitehall. He was the husband of Pearl (Demko) Wagner of Whitehall and would have celebrated 63 years of marriage this Friday, November 24th. Born in Northampton, he was the son of Mary (Snyder) Wagner.
Marvin was an Air Force veteran serving in the 327 Tactical Airlift Squadron during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant serving 32 years in the Air Force Reserve from 1960-1992 and had been stationed in Willow Grove Naval Air Station 913. He also served active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Marvin served in Operation Desert Shield & Desert Storm as a Loadmaster on a C-130 aircraft. He was a member of Fullerton American Legion Post 367 and a VFW contributor. Marvin was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Whitehall. He was a Northampton High School graduate and loved watching all sports.
His family was most important to him and he loved spending time with them.
Surviving along with his wife Pearl are his daughter Connie Batug and husband Jim; son Gary Wagner and wife Karen; grandchildren Greg Wagner and wife Kim, Brad Wagner and wife Bethany, and Jennifer Batug; great grandchildren Brady, Nolan, Olivia, and Ryan; sisters Anna Smith, Marianne Heffelfinger; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings.
A Memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday November 25th at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032. His calling period will be from 10-11am Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
