Obituary for Mary Ann "Mertz" Snyder
Mary Ann “Mertz” Snyder, 84, of North Catasauqua, died Sunday July 31, 2022. Born in North Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late Frank P. and Sophie E. (Podorsky) Snyder.
Mary Ann was a faithful member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church, formerly St. Andrew’s, in North Catasauqua. She was a devoted member of the church choir, and Altar and Rosary Society. Mary Ann also served as a Lector and volunteered making pierogies for the church. Mary Ann graduated from Catasauqua High School in 1956 and immediately went to work for the Prudential Insurance offices in Allentown. She worked there as the office manager for over 40 years before retiring. Mary Ann enjoyed traveling the world, reading, and meeting with her monthly card/dominoes group. She was Elvis’s #1 fan and loved elephants.
She was a big part of the Snyder/Podorsky families as well as her church family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her nephew Eric Snyder and wife Tina and their children Andrew and James; nephew Marc Snyder and his children Madison and Olivia; Anne Marie Makle and husband Thomas and their son Ethan; niece Kristine Kranzley and husband Christopher and their children Nathan and Taylor; niece Suzanne Holderman and husband Nevin and their children Sydney and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her brother Frank J. “Jive” Snyder and sister Barbara Lynch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Wednesday August 10, 2022 at St. John Fisher Church, 1239 3rd Street, North Catasauqua, PA, 18032. Her viewing will be held from 9-10:30 am at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. Contributions may be made to the church c/o the funeral home.
