Obituary for Mary "Max" C. Ferenchak

Mary "Max" C. Ferenchak, 87, of North Catasauqua departed from this life surrounded by her loving family, Friday December 29, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospice at Cedar Crest. She was the wife of the late Bernard "Ben" P. Ferenchak and celebrated 64 years of marriage together before his passing in 2021. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Ludvik and Katherina (Fedak) Majernik.


Mary was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and retired as an office administrator for Burlington Coat Factory. She worked in the cafeteria for the Catasauqua High School for many years.


Max was always helping others and very giving of her talents. Her greatest achievement with her creative endeavors was through her membership in the Decorative Painting Society. Max earned the honor of having a hand painted Christmas ornament hung on the White House Christmas tree and an invitation to lunch with First Lady Laura Bush.


Mary was active in many groups in Catasauqua including the Catasauqua Historic Society and Catasauqua Area Showcase Theater to name a few. She was happiest teaching others ceramics, crocheting, knitting, and painting. Above all she was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.


Surviving is her daughter Deborah and husband Greg "Punchy" Loch, son Bernard "Ben" Ferenchak and wife Holly, daughter Michele Romito, grandchildren Jason Loch, Chris Loch and companion Lori, Ben and wife Helen, Nicholas and wife Laura, Jimmy Kurtz and wife Leah, Megan Henry, and husband Vince, great grandchildren Matthew, Katherine, Jack, Vayda, Vincent, Enzo, Allison, Anthony and Nicole, and a great great granddaughter Heavenly.


Her calling period will be held at 10-11am Friday January 5, 2024 at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. Memorial service to follow at 11am Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 2024 Lehigh St, Allentown, 18103. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.brubakerfuneralhome.com.
