Obituary for Melissa Anne Watson Bugbee
Melissa Anne Watson Bugbee, 27, of Tampa, FL, formerly of Whitehall, Pa. and Pittsburgh, Pa., passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, Feb. 1, surrounded by her loving family. Melissa is the wife of Michael P. Bugbee. Born in Reading, Pa. she is survived by her mother Pauline Collins, wife of Mark Collins, and her father David Watson husband of Ellen Watson. Melissa graduated from Whitehall High School in 2001. She earned her B.S. from the University of Tampa in 2005 and her M.S. in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008. Melissa was employed by H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa as a Genetic Counselor. While battling breast cancer over the past two years, Melissa continued to work and care for her patients. Melissa’s love of life was contagious and she touched everyone she met in a positive way. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her beloved dogs, Joey and Maya. Melissa’s strong Christian faith sustained her and lifted up those around her. Along with her husband and parents, Melissa is also survived by brothers, Michael and Andrew Watson, sisters, Jessica Watson and Bethany Collins, stepbrothers Mark and James Collins, David Marcola and stepsister Amber Taylor. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Jean Powanda. She was the daughter in law of Connie and Jim Bugbee. Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday February 8th, 2011 at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St., Catasauqua, PA 18032 with the Rev. P. Douglas Cronce officiating. Her viewings will be from 7-8:30pm Monday, February 7th, and 10-11am Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Whitehall. Donations may be made in her name payable to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in care of Brubaker Funeral Home.
