Obituary for Michael J. Churetta, Jr.

Michael J. Churetta, Jr., 84, of Catasauqua, died Saturday December 7, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. He was the husband of the late Rosemarie “Susie” (Molchan) Churetta for 29 years before her passing in 1995. Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Michael J. Sr. and Arlene Koehler.


Michael graduated from Northampton High School and honorably served his country in the Air Force. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church of the Annunciation B.V.M of Catasauqua. Michael worked as a field service engineer for NCR for many years before his retirement.


Michael was a very active member in the Hokendauqua Chapter #535 of Trout Unlimited and has served as Secretary for many years. He oversaw their newsletter and their website, which was recently recognized as the best in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed writing stories and poems for the organization, as well as assisting with the group's educational events held throughout the area. Mike was an avid fisherman and enjoyed making his own flies and fly rods.


Above all he loved his family. He cherished attending his grandkids' and great grandkids' events and hosting the family’s annual pig roast. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed by many.


He is survived by his daughters Donna Feist, Judith Schultz, Michele Churetta and fiancée Bill Myers, son Scott Churetta and wife Debra; grandchildren Alyssia and Derek Leibensperger, Britiny, Cody, Nathan and wife Natasha Schultz and Jaden Schultz, and Nicholas Churetta; great grandchildren Avery, Zayden, Abriella, Nolan, Miles and James; sister Shirley Pany and husband Sylvester. He was preceded in death by a grandson Devon Decker, and sons – in – law Ronald Feist and Bruce Schultz.


His viewing will be held at 12:30-1:30pm Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00pm Thursday at St. Mary’s Church, 122 W. Union St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Catasauqua.
