Obituary for Michael Smicker, Jr.
Michael Smicker Jr., 86 years, died Monday May 14th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Coplay. He was the husband of the late Marilyn J. (Olenwine) Smicker. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Michael Sr. and Mary (Marhon) Smicker.
Michael was a member of St. John' s Lutheran Church in Coplay. He worked for many years as a foreman for Gardner Cryogenics in Allentown, before retiring. He loved fishing, Yocco's hot dogs, bowling and his beloved Villanova Wildcats and Philadelphia Eagles. Michael was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Coplay American Legion Post 426.
He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother and will be missed by his son Glenn Smicker and wife Marci, daughters Michele Schmall and husband Carl, Mary Ellen Dobish and husband Mike, and Monica Pavolko and husband John; grandchildren Adriane, Michael, Anthony, Kyle, Amy, Ryan, Rachel, Samantha and Savanna; great grandchildren Andrew, Alexander, Mason, Bella, Kiera, Annalia, Ethan, and Saige; brothers Eugene, Ronald and wife Monica, and Dennis and wife Loretta Smicker; sister Dorothy Scott and husband Fred, Lorraine Chivinsky and husband Joseph, Marie Mertz and Elaine Simcoe and husband Carl; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, May 18th, 2018 at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 327 Chestnut Street, Coplay, 18037. His viewing will be from 9-11am Friday morning at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to the church care of the funeral home.
