Obituary for Mutiel A. Backhus
Muriel A. Backhus, 83, of Bethlehem Township, died Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Whitehall Manor in Whitehall. She was the widow of John G. Backhus III. Born in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Frances and Albert Pross. Muriel worked for years as an office worker for a clothing manufacturer in Allentown. She is survived by her loving children, a daughter Joanne G. Hoyas, and a son John G. “Generic” Backhus IV, both of Bethlehem, and by her five loving grandsons Edward and Matthew Hoyas, and Jon and Jamie Backhus, and Dewey Powell. Muriel was preceded in death by a sister Ethel and a brother Albert. Services will be held at 2pm Monday January 2, 2006 at the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home. Call from 1-2pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 100 North 17th Street, Second Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103 or to the Heartland Hospice, 1227 Liberty Street, Suite 204, Allentown, PA 18102.
