Obituary for Myrtle J. "Mert" Fried
Myrtle “Mert” J. Fried, 92 years, formerly of Fullerton, died Monday October 2nd, 2017 at her residence at Fellowship Manor in Whitehall. She was the wife of the late Franklin “Pat” D. Fried and celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death in 2007. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Lillie L. (Yoder) Kline.
Myrtle was a very active member of the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua. She worked for many years in the customer service department for Sears before retiring. Myrtle also worked in the cafeteria for the Whitehall-Coplay School District. She was a former member of the Jesse K. Berlin Order and the current Rose Croix Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her sons Glenn A. Fried and wife Ann, and Mark A. Fried and wife Patricia; grandchildren Christopher, Jefferson, Jonathan, Lucas, David, and Elizabeth; 11 great grandchildren and a nephew. She was preceded in death by a sister Norma and a brother Clifford.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday October 6th, 2017 at the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 2nd & Pine Streets, Catasauqua, 18032. Her viewing will be from 10-11am at the church on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made in her name payable to the church.
