Obituary for Olga P. Herb
Olga P. Herb, 98, resided at Sacred Heart by the Creek in Northampton for the past three years and Ormrod before that. She passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest Campus. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Herman M. Herb who passed away in November of 1996. Born in Ormrod, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Eva (Kroutjock) Potrako.
During WWII, Olga worked at a cigar factory and went on to work at numerous factories as a trimmer and presser for over 20 years before her retirement. After retirement, she and Herman resided in Hernando, FL for about ten years. After Herman died, she lived at the Neffs Hotel when her daughter owned it. She did the Hotel's laundry and was chief inspector, she double checked the silverware and tabletops to make sure all was clean. You would sometimes see her sweeping the front porch or the gutter off the porch. What an asset. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church of Northampton where she was a part of the rosary society and enjoyed making pierogis for the church. She loved watching the Eagles and Phillies and was very vocal giving them advice. Olga She was also an exceptional baker and halupki maker. She was a member of the Nova Ambulance Core of Ormrod and the Friendly ’50s of Northampton. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by daughter Louise E., wife of Bruce Stettler of Schnecksville, son Michael Herb of Hernando, FL; grandchildren, Mindy and Tim Herb; grandsons, Todd L. and Zane J. Schaffer both of Slatington; and four great-grandchildren. She was also Gram to Bruce's two daughters and their four children. In addition to her husband Herman, she was predeceased by seven siblings.
Divine Liturgy services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, August 2, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1357 Newport Ave, Northampton, PA 18067. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Her viewing will be held from 8:30 am - 9:30 am at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 327 Chestnut St. Coplay, PA. 18037. Contributions may be made in Olga's memory to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church.
