Obituary for Pearl A. Savitz
Pearl A. Savitz, 102 years of Catasauqua, formerly of both Hanover Township and Allentown, died Tuesday January 7th, 2014 at Northampton Village where she resided. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Savitz and they celebrated 71 years of marriage before his death. Born in Hanover Township she was the daughter of the late Llewellyn J. and Ida M. (Grim) Bender. Pearl was a 1930 graduate of Catasauqua High School and a 1933 graduate of the Allentown School of Nursing. Pearl operated and managed the Bender Family Farm in Hanover Township for many years before returning to nursing in the 1950s. She retired as Head Nurse of the T-4 Cardiac Floor of the former Allentown Hospital after more than 20 years of employment. Pearl was a member of the former Christ Lutheran Church of Schoenersville where she was very active during the 1940’s and ‘50’s. Surviving are her sons Robert C. Savitz and his friend Bonnie Nagle; and William B. Savitz and wife Nadine; niece Ruth Koch; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Suzette Kropf and a grandson Danny Andreoli. The family would like to thank the staff of Northampton Village, Heartland Home Healthcare and Heartland Hospice for their loving care and attention to Pearl. Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Friday January 10th, 2014 at the former Christ Lutheran Church, 2354 Grove Road Allentown PA 18109. Her viewing will be held Friday at the church from 1:30-2:30pm. Memorial contributions may be made in her name payable to the Parkland Community Library or Heartland Hospice care of the Brubaker Funeral Home Inc., 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032.
