Obituary for Peter Sukeena
Peter Sukeena, 93, of Whitehall, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecelia I. (Zielinski) for 49 years before her passing in April of 2000. He was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Uranko) Sukeena.
Peter was a Pottsville High School graduate that went on to further his education at Kutztown University. He honorably served in the Army Air Core during WWII from 1945-1948 while being stationed in Okinawa. He spent his career working as a realtor for over forty years before his retirement.
Peter was extremely spiritual and a man of strong faith. He achieved awards for his many years of attendance at the Malvern Retreat, where he loved to spend time deepening his faith. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He especially loved watching and cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Peter is survived by children Peter D. Sukeena and wife, Linda of Cornwall, NY, Thomas R. Sukeena and wife, Jana L. of Annville, James M. Sukeena and wife, Karin of Quakertown, Laura A., wife of Philip Stern of Edison, NJ, and Stephen P. Sukeena of Whitehall; grandchildren, Wendy, Brad, Paul, Peter, Kenny, Christine, Bryan, AnnMarie, Olivia, Teresa, Samuel, Ryan and Cole. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was predeceased by son, Kenneth J. Sukeena.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Brubaker Funeral Home, 327 Chestnut St., Coplay, PA 18037. A viewing will be held from 12-1:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Northampton. Online condolences may be recorded at www.brubakerfuneralhome.com.
