Obituary for Raymond D. Bryant
Raymond D. Bryant 84, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, December 30, 2011. He was the beloved husband of 42 years to Marie J. (Retel) Bryant. He was the son of the late Joseph E. and Helen (Staples) Bryant of Corpus Christi, TX. Raymond worked as the Director of Operations and Maintenance at the Quakertown School District for many years before retiring. He was a member of the former Quakertown Lions Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in both WWII and Korea. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, fishing, gardening and wood carving. His machinist and electrical skills helped many. Surviving along with his wife Marie are his three daughters; Elizabeth Bryant of Tampa, FL, Janet (Bryant) McIlhenny of Allentown and Donna (Atkins) Knisley of Center Valley. Two brothers Thomas and Truman Bryant and his sister Genelle Lovett reside in Texas. Grandchildren include Joseph and David Bock, Philadelphia, PA, Kathryn McIlhenny, Allentown, PA, Leslie Bryant, Tampa, FL, Cassandra (Atkins) Ballos, Mechanicsville, VA, and Alexander Knecht, Center Valley, PA. There are also 5 great grandchildren. Raymond was predeceased by sons Douglas Bryant and Brian Atkins and his granddaughter Deanna Knisley. Calling hours will be on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 2–3 pm with a memorial service immediately following at Lutheran Manor Apartments, 2085 Westgate Drive, Bethlehem, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice of the V.N.A., 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem, PA 18017
