Obituary for Raymond F. Acker
Raymond F. Acker Raymond F. Acker, 88, of Allentown, formerly of Maryland, died Friday December 15, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Jonnie G. (Groman) Acker. Born in Catasauqua, he was the son of the late Frank W. and Annie M (Schafer) Acker. Raymond held a supervisory position with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for many years before retiring. He served in the Army during WWII where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), American Theater ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. While in the service he also worked as a radar crewman among other specialties. Prior to being in the army Raymond worked for 4 years as a supervisor for the Social Security Board in Washington D.C. He and his wife, Jonnie enjoyed ballroom dancing. Surviving are a sister-in-law Margaret Fassman and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 brothers. Memorial Services will be held Thursday December 21, 2006 at the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. Call from 10-11am at the funeral home.
