Obituary for Reynold P. Gabel Sr.
Reynold P. Gabel, Sr., 78, of Allentown, died June 13, 2007 at his home. He was the husband of Viola J. (Wolfe) Gabel and celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in January. Born in Upper Macungie Township, he was the son of the late Lawrence T. and Ruth A. (Reed) Gabel. Reynold was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Allentown. He owned and operated the Reynold P. Gabel Electrical Contracting Company of the Lehigh Valley since October of 1959. During the Korean War he served in the Army signal corp. He was a Boy Scout committee man for Troop 22 for over 25 years in Allentown and coached little league baseball in Catasauqua. Reynold’s family was the most important thing in his life. He was the beloved husband, Dad and Pappy to his wife Viola, his sons: Brian, husband of Susan Gabel of Mertztown, Barry, husband of Deborah Gabel of Coplay, and Reynold, Jr, husband of Dena Gabel of New Tripoli; daughters, Tina wife of Lewis Jarrett of Schnecksville, and Laura Donchez of Catasauqua; brother, Gerald Gabel of Spokane, WA.; ten grandchildren – Christopher, Erin, Stephanie, Shannon, Megan, Patrick, Melissa, Mollie, Nathaniel and Hayden. Reynold was preceded in death by a brother Vincent and sisters Helen and Joyce. Services will be held 11:30 am Monday, June 18, 2007 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1933 Hanover Ave., Allentown, PA. Call from 10:30-11:30am at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to St. Peter’s Church, the American Cancer Society or St. Luke’s Hospice House, care of the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA. 18032.
