Obituary for Richard A Meckes Sr.
Richard A. Meckes Sr., 78 years, of Gouldsboro, PA, passed away on Thursday January 25th, 2018 in Clermont, Florida. He was the husband of Jeanette (Torbey) Meckes, celebrating 57 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Allen F. and Josephine (Kohlhauser) Meckes.
A graduate of Whitehall High School, Richard was employed by Mack Trucks as a mechanic for 32 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was a lifetime member of the Petersville Rod & Gun Club.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving for 6 years aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga. He was a lifetime member of the Egypt VFW Post 7293 and a member of the American Legion Post #0274 of Gouldsboro.
Survivors include his wife, sons Richard A. and his wife Leigh of Walnutport and Daniel J. of Northampton, daughters Annette Bult and her companion Randy Bair of New Tripoli and Karen L. Meckes and her wife Sue of Quakertown, a brother Robert and his wife Constance of Cementon, a sister Joanne, wife of Bernard Nederostek of Northampton, a stepsister Ruthann Kichline of Northampton, grandchildren Richard, Joshua, Justin, Kevin, Taryn and Morgan. He was predeceased by a brother Allen F. Jr. and a sister Dorothy Bechtel.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Friday May 11, 2018 at Brubaker Funeral Home Inc. 327 Chestnut St. Coplay, PA 18037. There will be a calling period from 10-11am Friday at the funeral home.
