Obituary for Richard Carlstrand
Richard Carlstrand, 78, passed away on January 20, 2021. He was the husband of Anna (Tjersland) Carlstrand to whom he was married for 56 years. Richard was born in New York City, was a lifelong resident of Long Island, New York, and after retirement, lived between Layton in the Florida Keys and Orefield, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Alf Carlstrand and Angela (Christensen) Carlstrand.
Richard was a talented carpenter and cabinet maker. He worked in construction in NYC for many years before and after starting two businesses on Long Island; Leisure Lawns Inc. and R&R Custom Woodcraft. He constructed a beautiful home for his family in Dix Hills, New York where he raised his family. Richard and his family were members of St. Luke Lutheran Church, also in Dix Hills. He had a deeply generous heart and loved animals, traveling, camping, photography, boating, cars, and motorcycles. Most of all, he loved being with his family.
Along with his wife, Anna, he is survived by his daughters Erica Gayle Coverley and Christa Grace Kachline; sons-in-law Trevor Coverley and Kristopher Kachline; sister Nancy Menz; and his five precious grandsons: Trevor, Hunter, Harrison, Brooks and Dalton.
Richard was predeceased by his two young daughters Elisa Lynn Carlstrand and Carrie Marlene Carlstrand; his sister Pamela Kosted; and his biological father Maynard Klinkevich.
Due to current restrictions, services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
