Obituary for Richard "Dick" L. Black
Richard L. Black, 85, of Emmaus, died Saturday September 9, 2023, in the care of Cornerstone Memory Care. He was the husband of Susan (Palladino) Black for 36 years.
Born in Allentown, Dick was the son of the late Russell L. and Mildred (Campbell) Black. He was a graduate of Allentown High School, class of 1956, East Stroudsburg University, class of 1960 and received his Master's in Education from Lehigh University. While at Allentown High School, Dick won the 1956 State Diving Championship.
Dick taught in the Math Department in Emmaus High School for 33 years and organized their first swim team. He was also a RE broker for over 40 years.
Dick was a lifelong and faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Allentown.
Surviving along with his wife Susan are his daughter Laurie Brey; son James Black and wife Kim; daughter-in-law Donna Black; brother David; 7 grandchildren and a great granddaughter; step-son Michael and wife Suzanne, Christopher, Andrew, Lisa Miller, Monica Martocci and 3 step-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his son Terry Black.

A calling period will be held Thursday September 14, 2023 from 10-11am at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown, PA 18104. Funeral service to follow at the church at 11am. Private family interment to follow service at the church.
