Obituary for Richard E. Gerhard, Sr.

Richard E. Gerhard Sr., 91 years, of N. Catasauqua died Monday May 23, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. He was the widow of the late Ethel (Gogle) Gerhard. Born in Catasauqua he was the son of the late Oliver and Elizabeth (Dillinger) Gerhard.

Richard was a fireman for the former Eagle Brewery of Catasauqua and a welder for Traylor Engineering of Allentown before retiring. During WWII he served in the Second Marine Division and saw action in Okinawa, Saipan and Peleliu.

Surviving is a son Richard E. Gerhard Jr., daughter Janice wife of James Jones and grandchildren Amy Huselton, Bobby Jones, and Richard E. Gerhard III, great grandchildren Brady, Aubrie and Jayden; and companion Julie Guldner. He was preceded in death by sons Michael, Jeffrey and Kurt and 4 sister and 2 brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday in the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua, Pa. 18032. Call 10:00am until 11:00am Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. John Fisher Calvary Cemetery.
