Obituary for Rita M. Medence
Rita M. Medence, 84, of North Catasauqua, died Wednesday July 5th, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. She was the loving wife of the late John Medence, Jr. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Priscilla C. (Sperlbaum) Eberhart.
Rita was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church in Catasauqua. She worked for over 35 years as a Section Eight Manager for the Allentown Housing Authority retiring in 2004. Rita was a member of the Bethlehem Lioness Club where she was a District 14K Associate Lioness Chairman. She was an active member of the Cherryville Senior Center and coordinated bus trips for their many members.
Rita enjoyed baking, reading and going to the beach. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Rita was very caring and always helping others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her son Mark Medence and his wife Sue, sister Carolyn O'Donnell and her husband Dennis, granddaughters Alison Medence and Kelly Baker and husband Kyle, niece Tracy Borkenhagen and husband Scott and their son Aiden, niece Erin Plourde and husband Matthew and their daughter Hadley, niece Christine Eberhart and family. Rita was preceded in death by her brother Robert.
Her viewing will be held at 11:30am-12:30pm Tuesday July 11, 2023 at Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 4th & Pine Sts. Catasauqua, PA 18032. Funeral service at 12:30pm in the church. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Cherryville Senior Center, 4131 Lehigh Dr. Cherryville, PA 18035.
