Obituary for Robert A. McCloskey
Robert A. McCloskey, 86, of Catasauqua, passed away on January 5, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg Campus. He was the beloved husband of the late Pamela Jane McCloskey to whom he shared 54 beautiful years of marriage before her passing in May of 2020. Born in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Delmas and Edna (Fravel) McCloskey.
Robert was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict on the USS Coral Sea. He spent his working years employed as an airport handler by both Allentown and Philadelphia Airports for many years before his retirement. Robert enjoyed playing baseball as a kid, growing up to be an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. He was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, never missing a chance to watch a game. Robert also enjoyed watching westerns on television. He loved the outdoors, particularly hunting deer and fishing.
Robert was a devoted father, loving grandfather, and caring great-grandfather. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by children, Coral Stauffer, Tracey McCloskey, Troy McCloskey, Rebecca Shull, Darrin McCloskey, and Terri Saeger; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Vera Mann, Larry McCloskey, Ralph McCloskey, Diane Wisniewsky. In addition to his wife, Pamela, he was predeceased by his grandson, Travis and his siblings, Harry McCloskey, Delmas McCloskey, Jr. (Buck), and Dretta Kessinger.
Services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., Catasauqua is entrusted with arrangements.
