Obituary for Robert "Bob" A. Barnes, D.O.
Robert A. Barnes, DO, 80, of Allentown, passed away peacefully after a long illness on August 11, 2022, at Cornerstone Living surrounded by his loving family. Born in Plainfield, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert D. Barnes, DO, and Ruth (Hellyer) Barnes. He was the husband of Martha (Laudermilch) Barnes with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage on July 2nd.

Bob graduated from Plainfield High School in 1961. He later attended and graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1965 where he met his wife. He proceeded to further his education at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine receiving his degree in 1969.

Bob served the people of Emmaus, PA and surrounding communities as an osteopathic family physician for over 45 years. As a gifted physician, he made his patients feel like family. Bob was a devoted member of the American Osteopathic Medical Association and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association for the entirety of his career. As a faithful Christian, he was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Allentown. Bob had many hobbies and passions. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, loved hunting in the Pennsylvania outdoors, and fishing at the Jersey Shore.

Bob was most of all a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, NJ. Bob was a loyal and caring person who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife Marty; daughters, Debra Paolucci (husband Lawrence) of Grosse Pointe, MI, Elizabeth Bartolucci (husband Donald) of Allentown; a son, Robert Brian Barnes, DO (wife Kathryn) of Macungie; brother-in-law, James Laudermilch of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Victor and Anastasia Paolucci, Brendan and Brynn Atticks, Francesca, Valentina, James and Julia Bartolucci, Abigail, Amanda, and Robert T. Barnes. He was always a loyal and supportive defender of his family and close friends.

There will be a visitation Friday evening, August 26, 2022 at Asbury United Methodist Church 1533 Springhouse Rd, Allentown, PA 18104 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday afternoon, August 27, 2022 in the church from 1:00–2:45 p.m. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Eric Yeakel, will commence at 3:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Spring Creek Church of the Brethren, Hershey, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Cornerstone Living Memory Care Community for benevolent care. Please make checks payable to Cornerstone Living, indicate Bob’s name in the memo, and mail to: Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, PA 18032.
