Obituary for Roger H. Scheirer
Roger H. Scheirer, 87 years of Catasauqua died Sunday December 29th, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest Campus, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Joyce (Haines) Scheirer. Born in N. Catasauqua he was the son of the late Harry and Elsie (Wenner) Scheirer. Roger retired from the accounting department as an accountant with Ingersoll Rand after over 30 years of employment. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua. Roger was a former member of Salem United Church of Christ of Catasauqua where he had served as an Elder, a Deacon, President of Consistory and bowled on the Salem Bowling Team. He was a past president of the Catasauqua Area Credit Union, a former coach of Catasauqua Little League and an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Roger served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Catasauqua American Legion Post #215. Surviving are daughters Joy wife of Wayne Muffley, Karen Scheirer, Nancy wife of Maurice Whiffen, Anita wife of Robert Croesus, sons R. Scott husband of Kim Scheirer, Neal husband of Karla Scheirer, sisters Joyce Miller and Carol wife of Art Mack. He has 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his brother Gerald and great grandson Cameron Andrew Bieling. Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. P. Douglas Cronce at 11:00am Saturday January 4, 2014 in the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua 210 Pine Street Catasauqua, Pa. 18032. His viewing will be 7:00 until 8:30pm Friday January 3 in the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua and from 10:00am until 11:00am Saturday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to the Catasauqua Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
