Obituary for Rolland W. Rodgers
Rolland W. Rodgers, 96 years, of Kirkland Village in Bethlehem, passed away peacefully with family by his side Sunday February 5th, 2017 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Ruth A. (Smith) Rodgers. Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Oliver and Margaretta C.(Dietrich) Rodgers.
Rolland, along with his wife Ruth, founded Lighting Fixture and Supply Co. of Allentown in 1955 and worked there as owner and President until his retirement in 1992. He was a past president of the Allentown Exchange Club and was active with the Masons. Rolland served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his children David Rodgers and wife Maryann; Susan Brophy and husband James and Brenda Baxter and husband Gary; grandchildren Lisa, Michele, Janice, Michael, Sarah and Laura and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Calma Robbins.
Memorial services will be held 11am Saturday March 18th, 2017 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown, 18104. There will be a calling period from 10-11am in the parlor prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to the Alzheimer’s Association, 617 Main St. #A, Hellertown, PA, 18055 .
