Obituary for Rose Marie Rice
Rose Marie Rice, 69 years, of Catasauqua, died Tuesday June 4th, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Richard Rice of Catasauqua and would have celebrated 51 years of marriage together this month. Born in Catasauqua she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Deibert) Mehefko. Rose was an active member of St. Mary’s Church of the Annunciation B.V.M. of Catasauqua. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Young at Heart Club and enjoyed bowling at the Catasauqua American Legion Post #215. Rose worked for many years as a secretary for Catasauqua’s Lincoln Middle School before she retired. Surviving along with her husband Richard are her children Kristin Woods and husband James of Elm Grove, WI; Keith Rice and wife Elena of Union, NJ; sisters Barbara Perdick and husband Lewis, Dorothy Vassa and husband Joseph; brother Jacob Mehefko Jr. and wife Evelyn; grandchildren Emma and Zoe Woods. She was preceded in death by a brother William Mehefko. A Memorial Mass will be held for her at 10am Friday, June 7th, 2013 at St. Mary’s Church, 2nd & Union Streets, Catasauqua, 18032. There will be a calling period from 9-10am Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in her name, payable to the Catherine Boulay Foundation, care of the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032.
