Obituary for Rudolf Dimmlich
Rudolf Dimmlich, 100 years, of Allentown, formerly of Werdau, Germany, died Sunday April 21, 2013. He was the husband of the late Theodora H. (Bock) Dimmlich. Born near Werdau he was a son of the late Heinrich and Lydia (Liebold) Dimmlich. Rudolf’s faith was very important to him and he was active in the Methodist church both here in the United States and in Germany. After moving to the USA in 1958, Rudolf was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Allentown. Rudolf served as a lay minister in Germany and led an Adult Bible Study Group in Germany and here in Allentown. He sang in the choir in both countries, and also conducted the church's brass choir in Germany. Rudi worked for many years as a design engineer and later as a consultant for various companies around the Lehigh Valley. He worked as a part time consultant until he was 83 years of age. Surviving are his daughter Annelie and husband Floyd Shultz; son Matthias Dimmlich and wife Rotraut; sister Johanna Dimmlich; and granddaughters Christine Shultz and Karen Shultz. He was preceded in death by his son Joachim. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday April 24th, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown, 18104. There will be a calling period from 10:00am until 11:00am Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to the church. The Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua is in charge of arrangements.
