Obituary for Russell L. Williams
Russell L. Williams 87 years of Bethlehem formerly of Catasauqua died Saturday May 21, 2011 in Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth H. (Gemmel) Williams. Born in N. Catasauqua he was the son of the late William J. and Annie (Moyer) Williams. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Catasauqua. He was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corp for many years and worked in construction with plumbing and heating. Russell also worked for the County of Lehigh until retiring. Russell served in the Army Air Corp, stationed in France during WWII in the 557 Bomb Squad-387 Bomb Group as rank of Sgt. 9th Air Force working as an airplane mechanic and gunner. He was a past president of the Catasauqua Booster Club, a member of the Fullerton Fire Co. # 1, the East End Fire Co. in Catasauqua, the Fullerton American Legion, the VFW of Northampton, the MORA Club of Bethlehem and the Allentown and National chapter of the AARP. Russell was a member of St. Andrew’s Young at Heart in N. Catasauqua, the Marauder Air Force Museum and he volunteered at the Good Shepherd in Bethlehem. Surviving are daughter Mary Ann wife of James Stangl of Palmer Township and son Mark husband of Cathy Williams of Catasauqua; grandchildren Karen, Lisa, Rusty and Matt, sister Joyce Williams of Fullerton. Russell was preceded in death by his brothers Harold and Robert and sisters Alice, Dorothy and Evelyn. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Wednesday May 25 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Second and Union Streets Catasauqua. Call 9:00am until 10:am in the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Angel 34 Foundation care of the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua, Pa. 18032.
