Obituaries
Born in Arlington, VA, he was the son of the late Russell and June (Taylor) Rooks.
Russell was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Allentown, where he sang on the church choir. He was an active member of the Gideon’s, serving as a lay minister with his wife for over 30 years.
He graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Agriculture. He was employed as a Dairy Scientist for Land of Lakes for many years before retiring.
He was a Navy veteran of the Pacific Theater of WWII, where he earned the Bronze Star.
Survivors include his daughters Betty, wife of Ken Hauser and Peggy, wife of Bert Petty, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Jan Gauthier, brother Robert, and sister Edna Powell.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday March 15th, 2018 at Asbury United Methodist Church 1533 Springhouse Rd. Allentown, PA 18104. There will be a calling period from 10-11am Thursday at the church. The Brubaker Funeral Home Inc. of Catasauqua is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Buckhorn Children’s Foundation 116 Buckhorn Lane Buckhorn, KY 41721.
