Ruth (Rivas)Rivera, 76, of Bethlehem, entered eternal rest at her home on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Formally of the Bronx, New York and born in New York City in 1948, she was a daughter of Vicente and Sergia (Rivera) Rivas.
She was the wife of the late Wilfredo Rivera with whom she shared ten years of marriage prior to his passing in March of 1990.
Ruth was a 1967 graduate of Jane Adams High School in the Bronx, New York.
Ruth received her calling to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of twenty-five and served him faithfully until her last breath…. over 50 years!
Ruth was very active in church ministry. She was affectionately known as “Mother Ruth.” She took on the motherly role to many who required love and affection. It was a title she held with pride. She actively volunteered many hours and occasions throughout the Lehigh Valley and countries out of the USA which included but not limited to: prison ministry; women’s ministry (The Nehemiah Wall); food bank, children’s Bible Sunday School; outreach; orphanages; Vacation Bible School and anything that would allow people to know and understand the wonders of Gods goodness! She often opened her home to those who needed a safe haven. She was never judgmental and loved the Lord with all her heart! She was a prayer warrior who could be found praying on her knees. She was an intercessor and enjoyed sharing Bible stories with others.
Ruth was an amazing woman and person. She was funny, loved to sing, dance, worship, read the bible, play innocent pranks on her family and friends. She was a fashionista at heart. She was adamant about wearing her Sunday best to church and events. She was a great friend, mother, mentor, Nana, sister, and aunt. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish fond memories include her children, Richard A. Roman and wife Lisette Roman, Demarie Roman, Alida Rivera, sisters Alida Rivera and husband Ruben A. Rivera, Jr., Eileen Marquez, daughter in law Melissa (Fontanez) Rivera; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and 3 Godsons. She was predeceased by her youngest son Wilfredo “Will” Rivera in September of 2023 as well as two sisters and two brothers.
