Obituary for Sadie M. Torbey
Sadie M. Torbey, 84, of North Whitehall Township, died November 23, 2014 at her residence. She was married to the late John "Junior" Torbey. A tribal member of the Cherokee Nation, she was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Webster and Frances (Walkingstick) Crittenden. A licensed practical nurse, she was employed in the former medical office of Doctors Levitt, Wasserman, and Lusser in Allentown. A member of Egypt VFW #7293, she was a corporal in the Women's Army Corp during the Korean War. Sadie was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, Northampton and a member of the former St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Northampton where she served as President of its Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors: Daughters, Carolyn Torbey, Jane Torbey-Roth and companion, Richard Horvath, Cynthia wife of David Connor, all of North Whitehall Township; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Crittenden and a sister, Malinda Hummingbird. Services: Viewing from 8:30-10:00 a.m. Friday, Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home, 327 Chestnut St. Coplay followe by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10: 30 a.m., Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, Northampton. Interment, Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton.
