Obituary for Sandra C. Gauger
Sandra C. Gauger, 68, of Macungie, died Saturday April 14, 2007 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of John H. Gauger and celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in 2006. Sandra was born in Wilmington, DE and was the daughter of the late David H. and Sara K. (Durnall) Calhoun. Sandra was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Allentown and also served as their confirmation instructor. She was also a member of the Priscilla Circle with the United Methodist Women and a church share group. She worked as a Family & Consumer Sciences teacher for Parkland High School for over 20 years until her retirement in 2000. Sandra was a 1956 graduate of Newark, DE High School and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from the University of Delaware. She was a former president of the Pennsylvania Association of Family & Consumer Sciences. Sandra was a member of the LCCC Teacher Education Advisory Board in 1995 and the LCTI Child Care Occupational Advisory Council in 1988. She was a Lehigh County 4-H Club Leader with the Timberwolf Club and past President of the former Lehigh Valley Home Economics Association. Surviving with her husband are daughters Amy wife of Tom Koenig of Centreville, VA; Julie wife of Gary Garbacik of Camp Hill, PA; son Jeffrey A. Gauger and his wife Diana of Alexandria, VA.; 7 grandchildren. Services will be held at 10am Wednesday April 18, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown, 18104. Call from 7pm-8:30pm Tuesday April 17 at the church. Interment to follow at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, Newark, DE. Wednesday afternoon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002, www.alsphiladelphia.org. Arrangements by the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home of Catasauqua.
