Obituary for Shirley Doyle
Shirley Doyle, 72, of North Catasauqua, died July 4, 2006 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township. Shirley was the wife of Harrison Doyle of North Catasauqua and the couple would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 15, 2006. Born in Blakely, PA she was the daughter of Ambrose and Dorothea (Meneeley) Whitby. A 1951 graduate of Blakely High School and of the Scranton Lackawanna Business School, Shirley moved to Catasauqua in 1961. She was a Deacon, Elder, Clerk of Sessions and former President of the Women’s Association for the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua. Shirley worked as the Secretary of Code Enforcement for the City of Allentown before retiring in 1999. Always kind, caring and giving, and a devoted wife and mother, she supported all of her children’s endeavors. Surviving with her husband are daughters Carol and Richard Monaco of Hudson, Ohio; Patricia Doyle of Schwenksville, PA; son John of Evergreen, CO; grandsons Anthony and Tyler Monaco of Hudson, Ohio; Sister Isabel Snedeker of New Castle, DE; brother Robert Whitby of Moorestown, NJ and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11am Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 2nd and Pine Streets, Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 7-8:30pm Thursday, July 6 and 9:30-10:30am at the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua, 18032. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to the church.
