Obituary for Sylvia B. Nicklas
Sylvia B. Nicklas, 72 years, of Whitehall, formerly of Catasauqua, died Saturday, September 28th, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown. She was the wife of the late Robert G. “Nick” Nicklas. Sylvia and Nick also lived happily in Las Vegas for several years. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Mildred S. (Brown) Rutman. Sylvia and Nick owned the former Nick’s Bar on Front and Race Streets in Catasauqua from 1966-1971. She worked as a secretary for the Fuller Co. and Reichenbach Oil Com of Allentown. She was a member of and secretary for the Southwark Fire Co. #9 in Catasauqua. Sylvia was member of St. Mary’s Church of the Annunciation B.V.M. Sylvia is survived by her brother Tom Rutman and his wife Cathy of Catasauqua; and nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Ronald. A Mass will be held at 11am Friday, October 4th, 2013 at St. Mary’s Church, 122 Union St. Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 10-11 on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the church care of the Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua PA, 18032. The family would like to thank the hospice staff and her many friends for their loving care and compassion.
