Obituary for Teresa M. Perna
Teresa M. Perna, 80, formerly of Northampton, died Sunday July 8, 2007 at Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth. Born and raised in Newark, NJ she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe Rullo and Carmela (Nardelli) Gravante. Tessy was the devoted wife of Steven A Perna for 56 years, who died in 2005, and the loving mother of Ria Small of Davie, FL and Louis Perna of Catasauqua, PA. During WWII, Tessy worked for Tungsol, where she met Beatrice Calabrese, wife of Lon, a friend for more then 64 years. She also worked as a waitress for Rallo’s restaurant for a number of years. In her last years in Newark, Tessy cared for Roger and Amy Wu, the late Martin Fuentes, and a number of other neighborhood children. Other survivors are daughter-in-law, Laurie (Muehlberger) Perna of Catasauqua, PA, sister C. Frances Sinato of Brick, NJ, brother Joseph Rullo of St. Petersburg, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Dominick, Frankie, Alfred, Mario, and Romeo Rullo; and three sisters, Madeline Smith, Jennie Mazza, and Italia (Dolly) Dolinich. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14th, 2007 at the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. Call from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Northampton County Meals on Wheels, 4240 Fritch Drive, Bethlehem, PA 18020 or the Northampton Food Bank, 1550 Railroad St., Northampton, PA 18067.
