Obituaries
Thelma Mae Davis-Pritchard of Whitehall, PA was born on October 8th, 1949 in Margarettsville, North Carolina. She was one of six children of Chan and Mae-Lois Sumlar. She returned home to the Lord on July 3rd, 2023 peacefully at home, with family by her side in Whitehall.
Thelma attended school in Northampton County, graduating from Gumberry High School in 1968. At an early age, she became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. After graduation, she moved to NJ to join her sister Chrissy and was employed by Western Electric in New Jersey. She eventually retired from AT&T in Allentown, PA. Thelma started her new roots in Whitehall, PA working at B.Braun where she retired after 12 years.
Thelma was a loving caring person with a big heart for giving. She bought much love and humor into the lives of others. Thelma enjoyed having a good time with her family and friends. She could often be found in the kitchen baking or with her sewing machine. She also loved her daily walks and talking on the phone with her brother and three sisters daily. She especially enjoyed spending time with her kids Tajuana and Aaron, and her grandchildren, who loved visiting their Grandma Thelma. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Jack Pritchard, parents, Chan and Mae-Lois Sumlar, and brother John (Pete) Sumlar and grandson, Fabian Davis and her niece Chancey Sumlar.
She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her devoted kids her daughter Tajuana Maynard (Dwayne) of Suitland MD ; her son Aaron Davis (Elia) of Whitehall PA and her step-daugher Deborah Howard of Durham NC. Grandchildren: Jesiah Davis, Tanitra Maynard and Darius Davis. Four siblings, Barbara Winston of Bluffton, SC, Dorothy (Chrissy) Hill of Plainfield, NJ, Peggy (Robert) Vassor of Columbia, SC, and Chan (Junie) Sumlar of Margarettsville, NC. Thelma also leaves behind three sister-in-laws; Betty (Arthur), Mamie, Sherry and one brother-in law Mac (Sarah); one aunt Vivian Blount; five nieces Monique, Alicia, Terra, Kenya , Krista, nephew Lemont and a host of cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 327 Chestnut St., Coplay, PA 18037. A visitation will be held from 12:30- 1 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.brubakerfuneralhome.com.
