Obituary for Theodore W. "Ted" Damiter
Theodore W. “Teddy” Damiter, 66, of Northampton passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Reading Hospital. Born in Temple, PA., he was the son of the late Andrew and Anne (Dura) Damiter. He was the husband of Sharon M. (Ward) Damiter.
Ted Damiter was an All-American pitcher for the Red Raider baseball team at Shippensburg University. He played a key role in Shippensburg’s drive to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional championships in 1977 and its subsequent appearance in the NCAA Division II Championship Series in Springfield, Illinois. In
1985, Ted received his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.
He was drafted by the New York Mets and spent two years playing in the minor leagues. He played in Rookie League and on Class A teams. After his professional baseball career ended, he played 15 years in the Blue Mountain League and played in the Allentown Men’s Senior Baseball League. He later enjoyed coaching both of his daughter’s softball and basketball teams for the local athletic association.
He was a longtime member of Trinity Reformed Baptist Church in Allentown. He was passionate in evangelism and his desire to spread the Gospel was evident wherever he went. His faith and his family were extremely important to him. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School and often passed the time reading Christian books. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to treasure fond memories include his wife Sharon, daughters Elizabeth and husband William III, Meghan and husband Sean, brother Mark and wife Donna, grandchildren Phoebe, George, Audrey, Leah, Owen and Philip. He was predeceased by his daughter Rachel Lynn and brother Andrew.
Service for Ted officiated by Rev. Gary Morrison will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Trinity Reformed Baptist Church, 689 S. Hillview Road, Allentown, PA. 18103.
